John Hirst was born 12 Aug 1794 in
Gildersome, Batley, Yorkshire, England, the son of John Hirst and Susannah
Best. Jane Dunwell was born 2 Sep 1790
in Wortley, Leeds, Yorkshire, England, the daughter of Francis Dunwell and Jane
Asq uith. They were married 19 Sep 1814 when he was 20
and she was 24. They had 7 children, at
least 6 living, including Mary Hirst, born 8 Nov 1820. She died 18 Dec 1839, at the age of 49. He died 9 Oct 1863 at the age of 69.
They were baptized by proxy 23 Mar
1880 and endowed, he on 9 Jul 1896, she on 14 Jun 1898, and sealed to spouse 14
Jun 1898, in St. George.
